With a beautiful setting on the River Suir, the luxurious Waterford Castle Hotel and Golf Resort is on a private island completely detached from the mainland.
The castle boasts elegant rooms and suites with stunning views. These individually designed rooms offer also offer free WiFi, goose-down quilts and complimentary tea and coffee delivered to your room. Contemporary lodges are also available and include three and four-bedroom semi detached properties with a spacious open-plan kitchen/dining area and adjoining living room.
Access to the island is by a private car ferry which operates throughout the day. Ferry crossing takes 3 minutes, and can be arranged at the hotel. Drive up the beech-lined drive to reach the castle and its 800 years of history.
Local activities include golfing on an 18-hole course, clay-target shooting, a driving range, archery, tennis and croquet. There are also several nature trails and walking paths to explore.

Access to the island is by a private car ferry, which operates throughout the day. The ferry crossing takes 3 minutes. All bookings are subject to a EUR 5 Resort & Island fee, payable upon departure.

What was the highlight of Waterford Castle Hotel & Golf Resort
All in all a great place to stay in Waterford.
The staff were good and the food was excellent, and the general ambiance was great. We loved walking around the Island.
The suite we stayed in, the suir suite needed some refurbishment as the carpet was heavily stained and the room needed painting and freshening up.

Excellent venue, food, service couldn’t fault it we have already booked our return trip next year
We loved the small number of guests and the excellent service from the staff. Food excellent too
We found the heating went off regularly and we found our bedroom /bathroom got cold. The bar on the second night was abit chilly. This was our only fault.

Great place to stay!
Staff was very hospitable. Room was amazing and exceptionally clean. The food was great (breakfast more so than dinner). Also I was proposed to here so I'm a little biased
Not a lot to do around the castle other than golf and trails.

Great location and the townhouse was fantastic!
We had a great time at Waterford Castle. My sister and I travel together and we were surprised when we arrived that we had 3 bedrooms, 3.5 baths, full kitchen with dishwasher, washer and dryer, fireplace, a picnic table on the back patio and two balconies! Reasonably priced for a 3 day stay. We had been traveling for more than a week so took one day and vegged out. We walked around the private island that the hotel is on, made a grocery run and generally chilled. We also visited several attractions in Waterford and drove to the Rock of Cashel and Kilkenny Castle for one long day. Good base for seeing the sites in SE Ireland. We had one breakfast at the castle and it was so much food that it triggered our veg day. Also ate one dinner there. Food was great and staff uniformly helpful and solicitous. We would love to go back and bring a full house!
We have one suggestion: please provide lightweight covers for the beds. While I love the feel of a duvet, it was too much for the time we were there. Woke up sweaty with no alternative covers. Ended up using my all-weather coat as a blanket instead of the duvet. Note that we found this problem in all of the places we stayed in Ireland.
